Upcoming Writing Workshops
For ten years, I taught composition, creative writing, and English literature to undergraduates at Guilford College, UNC-Greensboro, Salem College, and Penn State University. I also spent four summers teaching contemporary interdisciplinary philosophy (Area II) in the North Carolina Governor’s School Program.
Current Teaching Projects
Currently, I am available for private instruction for children and adults who want to improve their writing – whether for school or business, whether essays, poetry, fiction, or non-fiction – and those who want to increase their understanding of English literature. If you are interested in talking with me about private instruction or tutoring opportunities, you may contact me here.
In addition, I sometimes teach 4 to 12-week creative writing workshops either independently or through local arts centers. My classes take our own individual imaginations as the most valuable element in the process of creating writing, so we explore ways to open up our minds and writing and embrace the weird and wild inside.
Information on those classes, when available, will be posted here. If you are interested in enrolling in a workshop or would like to host one, please contact me here.
What My Students Say
In end-of-term evaluations, students of mine have written
“Ken seemed to care about the students more than other instructors. He also seems to have a vast knowledge of the material.”
“The quality [of instruction] was high – English has never been my favorite subject, but I learned a lot in this course.”
“It was my favorite class of the semester. The assignments helped me to become a better writer. Ken was a very fun instructor because he was always enthusiastic and had a good sense of humor, always making things interesting.”
“He made it a point to look at works from several points of view, which also made my writing more diverse, and able to cover a much broader scope of the world.”
